As an artist, curator, private art instructor, publisher, and art event producer, Cheryl has been involved in art for most of her life.  She studied Fine Art, Marketing and International Business at her alma mater University of Wisconsin – Madison, and completed a Certificate of Drawing Program at the Art Institute of Chicago.  The Art Students League of New York was instrumental in her development of painting, under the esteemed Mary Beth McKenzie, Palumbo, Shanks and Del-Rosario.  Cheryl’s current role as Artistic Director of Chicago-based Art Depth provides her with complete artistic license when it comes to selecting the most ideal featured and exhibiting artists for its ever-evolving events – bringing in both local and international artists.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My art is a byproduct of a continual exploration in how to best capture beauty while expressing life's intricacies. Beauty to me can be found in the darkest places, while ugliness rears its head in the most beautiful faces.

Symbolism plays a part in my art. Many times I receive vivid lessons in dreams - two words, phrases or images provided together which are profound, but separate would be meaningless. These tend to become manifest in my art making, leading to works that draw the viewer in by aesthetics yet have underlying meanings.

I do not have a medium of preference, but rather use what I feel will best express the intentions of a particular piece. "Expressive" and "the immediacy of the mark" have been used to describe my work, and characteristics of my vision include...

- Finding truth in beauty

- Finding hope in the future

- Restoring balance

- The reincarnate essence of the soul

- The sacred female

- Dreams and the subconscious

- Universal truths

- Synchronicity

- Modern mythology
